Visitors are greeted with 50 miles of single track, ATV, and jeep trails. This means that when it comes to recreation, if you can dream it you can (mostly) do it. Just be safe out there adventurers! Hubbard Mesa is great for four-wheeling, mountain biking, hiking and target shooting. Be aware that the Open Area designation means there is freedom to do any of these activities anywhere within Hubbard Mesa. The BLM and local partners are working on safety and trash issues. You may find more partners-in-adventure on the main roads, but take a side trail and wander freely through hidden desert alcoves full of unique rock formations and colorful soil striations.

The BLM has designated Hubbard Mesa as the only OHV Open Area in the Colorado River Valley.
Hubbard Mesa can be accessed from the Highway 13 Bypass. Turn north onto County Road 244 (Fravert Reservoir Road) where the Rifle District Forest Service office is located. After two miles turn right at the fork onto County Road 290. Continue for approximately 1 mile to the parking area and the trailhead.​
