Three Forks Trail

The Three Forks Trail is a great hike or mountain bike ride close to Rifle Mountain Park.

The trail follows a fork of Rifle Creek into aspen and evergreen forests for several miles. It eventually meets up with other trails and jeep roads that lead further into the Flat Tops. To get to the trailhead from Rifle, head north on Railroad Ave and turn right onto County Road 325. Continue on CR 325 for 11 miles passing the Rifle Gap Reservoir, Rifle Falls and the State Fish hatchery. The pavement ends at the fish hatchery and turns in to CR 217, follow it 4 miles through the scenic Rifle Mountain Park. Because the Three Forks trailhead sits inside the White River National Forest, you do not have to pay the fee at the entrance of the mountain park – unless you plan and stopping to enjoy the beauty the Rifle Mountain Park has to offer. Once you pass the White River National Forest boundary stay right as you pass the turnoff for Coulter Guest Ranch and turn left at the sign for Three Forks and continue on that road for about 2 tenths of a mile where you will find parking and the trailhead.
