The Rifle, Colorado area is considered by many to be the best place in the country to go hunting with its proximity to the Flat Tops region of the White River National Forest.  This area has the largest elk herd in the country at almost 280,000.

The Flat Tops

The Flat Tops is a few miles N/NE of Rifle and stretches for 235,214 acres and offers the largest elk herd in the world with a cow to bull ratio of 4:1.
